Sony’s PlayStation State of Play set for Thursday launch

Sony has revealed that the next PlayStation State of Play event is scheduled for Thursday, 3rd September. The presentation promises to deliver a range of updates and announcements from both PlayStation Studios and third-party developers. At the culmination of the event, viewers will be treated to an in-depth look at the world of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.

The broadcast will commence at 6 am PT / 9 am ET / 2 pm BST / 3 pm CEST and will be available for viewing through PlayStation’s official YouTube and Twitch channels. Although the duration of the showcase is unspecified, fans can anticipate a robust lineup of content.

Diving into Regional Focus

Following the main State of Play showcase, Sony will initiate a State of Play Japan event. This segment, led by Japanese voice actor Yuki Kaji, will highlight games originating from Japan and other parts of Asia. The focus will be on unveiling new gameplay, sharing announcements, and more. This continuation aims to celebrate the diverse gaming landscape in the region.

September Tradition & Future Titles

The decision to hold a State of Play in September follows tradition, though this year’s event is taking place slightly earlier in the month compared to previous years. Speculation about the event had been circulating after insider NateTheHate mentioned it on X just days before the official announcement.

This September is also notable for the release of Marvel’s Wolverine, which is slated to launch on 15th September. While much about the game has already been unveiled, there might still be some final promotional material to entice pre-orders.

Beyond Wolverine, Sony is developing several other titles that fans eagerly anticipate updates on. These include God of War Laufey, Until Dawn 2, the Ghost of Yotei expansion, and the intriguingly titled Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Additionally, the showcase is likely to feature a selection of indie and mid-tier games, providing them with valuable exposure.
