Charity concert funds Christmas dinners

Greenaway Charity’s Music Festival Supports Christmas Aid for Families

The Greenaway Foundation is organising a music festival named Greenaway Live to raise funds for its Christmas project aimed at easing holiday expenses for families in Kent, Sussex, and Surrey. The event will take place at Crawley Rugby Club on Saturday at 15:00 BST, and proceeds from ticket sales will contribute to the charity’s efforts to assist financially struggling families during the festive season.

Expanding Support for Families

Founded by Darren Greenaway, the charity’s initiative this year requires approximately £200,000 due to increasing demand. A key component of the programme involves providing necessary ingredients for a two-course Christmas dinner to families in need. Additionally, children from low-income households have the opportunity to make requests for Christmas presents, which are delivered on Christmas Eve.

Music Festival Details and Impact

The charitable event expects to aid over 1,000 families by 2026. Greenaway noted the emotional impact of these deliveries, with some parents becoming visibly moved when their gifts arrive. This marks the second year for Greenaway Live, the first having occurred in 2025. This year’s festival will also be broadcast through the charity’s social media platforms.

Darren Greenaway recounted organising the initial festival while on his honeymoon, acknowledging a growing interest that has prompted planning for future events. He expressed gratitude for the live acts performing without charge, comparing the festival to a mini Live Aid event.
