Ace Hardware enhances retail media with new features

Ace Hardware’s RedVest Media, nearing the completion of its first year, has expanded its offerings to advertisers in a bid to enhance campaign strategies. Unveiled during an upfront event last week, RedVest Media introduced new tools such as incrementality measurement for off-site media, influencer marketing enhancements, and a strategic advertising partnership with DoorDash. Most of these features are already accessible to advertisers, and a refined audience library is slated for completion next year.

Innovative Features for Advertisers

The newly introduced features include weather-triggered programmatic advertising, allowing brands to adjust their messaging according to weather conditions like rainfall or air clarity. Such techniques are particularly useful for vendors selling products related to these environmental factors, such as snow equipment or power tools. Additionally, RedVest Media’s partnership with DoorDash provides advertising opportunities at a crucial touchpoint where 91% of customers engaging through DoorDash have not previously visited an Ace Hardware store.

Harnessing Social Media and Influencer Marketing

RedVest Media has also ventured into the social media arena by collaborating with Influential, which connects brands with creators. Advertisers now have the ability to work with vetted influencers to enhance their messaging on platforms like Meta, TikTok, and Pinterest. This follows feedback from vendors shifting their marketing focus toward social channels, where the emphasis is increasingly on creators over traditional brand content.

RedVest Media’s Strategic Growth

The network leverages Ace Hardware’s vast customer base, consisting of over 80 million loyalty members, and supports its 5,300 US store locations, among approximately 9,000 worldwide. Molly Hjelm, RedVest Media’s corporate vice president, highlighted the company’s targeted growth strategy focused on national brands as opposed to dealing with the dynamics of third-party marketplaces or private labels.

Integration with Other Retail Giants

Another significant development for RedVest Media is its integration with Pacvue, enabling advertisers to manage Ace Hardware campaigns more efficiently alongside those on major platforms such as Amazon and Walmart. Ollie Shayer from retail media firm SMG remarked on RedVest’s progress, citing its drive towards sophisticated measurement and activation capabilities akin to those of more established networks.

Overall, RedVest Media’s recent enhancements signify its intent to refine the retail media landscape by providing advertisers with innovative tools, further linking the physical retail space with digital advertising strategies.
