In a move to mark the 40th anniversary of the iconic Castlevania series, game developer Konami is offering the original 1986 game free of charge on the App Store and Google Play. This special offer will remain open until 24th October 2026, allowing fans old and new to experience the game without cost.
Discounts and New Releases
In addition to the free offer, several games in the Castlevania series are being sold with significant discounts. The upcoming release, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, is set to debut on 15th October. This new title introduces Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor Belmont from Castlevania 3, and follows her journey through Paris and Dracula’s castle in 1499. It will be available on Nintendo Switch, PC (via Steam), PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Sales on PlayStation and Steam
The PlayStation Store has slashed prices on multiple collections: the Castlevania Anniversary Collection is 80 percent off until 7th October; the Dominus Collection enjoys a 50 percent discount, while both the Advance Collection and the Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood bundle are reduced by 70 percent.
Similarly, from 24th September to 1st October, Steam is offering an 80 percent discount on the Anniversary Collection, 50 percent on the Dominus Collection, 70 percent on the Advance Collection, and 80 percent off on the Lords of Shadow games, which include the Ultimate Edition, Lords of Shadow 2 digital bundle along with its Revelations DLC, and Mirror of Fate HD.
40th Anniversary Concert and Music
Looking ahead, a Castlevania 40th Anniversary orchestral concert is scheduled in spring 2027, with performances in London, Tokyo, and Los Angeles. For those unable to attend, the “Castlevania: Black & Red” soundtrack is now accessible on major streaming services.
