Meta releases open-source code for creating Muse AI gadgets

Meta Releases Open Source Code for Muse AI Devices

Meta has introduced an open-source initiative that allows users to integrate its Muse AI agent with their personal hardware projects. The company has shared the code to enable developers to build custom devices embedding the AI technology, providing opportunities for usage with various hardware, including displays and Raspberry Pi systems.

The potential applications suggested by Meta include deploying Muse on a colour E Ink display for displaying reminders, integrating it with an HDMI stick for large screen output, or developing a mini touchscreen device, akin to a DIY Muse Charm. According to Meta, the Muse gadgets are user-created open-source devices, made by programming readily available ESP32 boards or configuring a Raspberry Pi with Meta’s SDKs. This setup allows Muse to connect to a variety of devices including displays, buttons, and sensors. Nonetheless, Meta advises developers to “proceed at your own risk” when working with the code.

Additionally, Meta is offering a limited number of free Muse Home Link gadgets, designed to interface with user-built skills to perform tasks such as controlling lighting, managing TV settings, and sending documents to printers. These devices have been produced in a batch of 5,000 units. As explained by Nat Friedman of Meta Superintelligence Labs, interested users can join a waitlist to receive the Muse Home Link, which is scheduled to be shipped within the month.
