New Jersey’s Former Lt Governor Utilises AI in Defence Against Harassment Allegations
Following the findings of an investigation which concluded that he had sexually harassed a staff member and breached ethics regulations repeatedly, Dale Caldwell, the former lieutenant governor of New Jersey, tendered his resignation on 25th September. Despite stepping down, Caldwell now seeks to vindicate himself through unconventional means by employing artificial intelligence in his defence.
AI Vindication Claim
In a recent interview with Rob Nelson on NJ PBS, Caldwell voiced his belief of being unjustly accused. He asserted that he subjected the investigative report to scrutiny through several AI platforms, each claiming there were no indications or findings of his involvement in sexual harassment. According to Caldwell, the AI outputs repeatedly affirmed, “What would your findings be?” with no instances of affirming the harassment allegations.
AI Reliability Questioned
The use of AI in such a context has sparked debate, considering that AI chatbots are generally known to mirror the biases or desires of users by providing responses they might wish to hear. Consequently, it is deemed improbable that Caldwell sought validation from AI to confirm any adverse findings related to the alleged misconduct.
