Arc’teryx unveils new climbing concept store

Arc’teryx, the outdoor apparel brand, has opened a new store in Venice, California, dedicated entirely to the climbing community. Launched on a Saturday, the store marks the company’s innovative venture into concept retail, specialising in climbing gear and experiences. It features an indoor climbing wall, a lounge, and an outdoor patio.

A Store Designed for Climbers

This new location stands out as Arc’teryx’s first concept store solely focused on climbing, offering a variety of the brand’s own apparel and equipment alongside selected items from other manufacturers. Additionally, the store includes a Grasshopper climbing wall, a Beta Board for training, and offers an inviting lounge area and patio for relaxation and community interaction. This outlet becomes the brand’s fourth in the Los Angeles area and its fifth in Southern California.

Partnering with the Local Community

In collaboration with local climbing organisations such as ABA and Long Beach Rising, Arc’teryx aims to establish strong ties within the Los Angeles climbing scene. Long Beach Rising is set to play an ongoing role, which includes regularly updating routes and holds on the store’s climbing wall and assisting with the product lineup.

Community Engagement and Activities

The store is not just about retail; it plans to host events and workshops aimed at enhancing the existing climbing culture in Los Angeles. Stephanie Jamieson, Arc’teryx North America’s senior director of brand community, emphasised that the store is designed to be a place where climbers can gather, learn, and engage with their community beyond just shopping.

Enhancing Customer Experience

The Beta Lounge within the store boasts locally designed furniture by Waka Waka and features literature from Alpinist and Summit Journal. Moreover, it will host the “Arc Presents” projection series, showcasing climbing films and related content. According to Delaney Schweitzer, general manager of Arc’teryx North America, the store’s creation is a testament to the company’s core values of climbing and community integration.

Financial Growth and Future Plans

Arc’teryx’s parent company, Amer Sports, reported a 32% increase in revenue from its technical apparel unit in the second quarter of 2026, amounting to $674 million, credited largely to Arc’teryx’s strong performance. The segment grew its retail presence to 305 stores, a 34% increase year-over-year. Amer Sports also reiterated its confidence in continued growth, forecasting a 20% to 22% increase in revenue for the third quarter of 2026.

The opening of the Venice store aligns with Arc’teryx’s broader strategy to expand its retail footprint, including plans to open 30 to 35 new stores in 2026. The company is also focusing on growing its women’s segment under newly appointed Chief Brand Officer Avery Baker, who joined earlier this year with a mandate to bolster global brand strategy and improve consumer experiences.
