The dating app: free, the paid tiers and your first week

It is Tinder — free to join, on Android and iPhone, with more people active in more cities than anything else in the category. Below: the official download link, what each paid tier actually buys you, and the one piece of advice that saves most people a subscription they did not need.

The app

🔥
Tinder Dating App: Chat & Date
Published by Tinder LLC. Rated 3.87 on the Play Store, free to install, available on Android and iPhone.
📍
Matches are local
You set a distance radius and only see people inside it. In small towns, widening the radius is the first thing to do.
💬
Messaging opens after a match
Both people have to swipe right before either can write. Nobody messages you out of nowhere, and nobody sees when you pass.

Gold, Plus and Platinum: what you are actually buying

➕
Plus
Undo a swipe, unlimited likes, and change your location. Useful mainly if you travel, or if you swipe fast and regret it.
👑
Gold
Everything in Plus, and you see who already liked you. This is the tier most people find genuinely changes the experience.
💎
Platinum
Everything above, plus a message attached to your like and priority in the queue. Worth it only once the profile is already working.

The honest advice: do not pay to fix a profile problem. Upgrading a weak profile buys you more people ignoring it. Fix the first photo, add a second and third, wait a week — then decide whether you still want the shortcut.

Your first week, in order

  • Day one: build the full profile before you swipe once. New accounts get an initial visibility boost and most people waste it on a half-finished profile
  • Day one: set the distance radius to match where you actually live
  • Days two to four: swipe selectively, in short sessions, rather than in one long burst
  • Day five: if there are no matches, change the first photo — not the bio
  • Day seven: only now consider whether a paid tier would help

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Creating a profile, swiping and messaging your matches costs nothing. The paid tiers are about speed and visibility, not access.

How quickly can I match?

With a finished profile it is common to get first matches on day one, particularly in a mid-sized or large city. An incomplete profile can go days with nothing.

Do people know when I swipe left?

No. Passing is completely invisible. Only a mutual right swipe creates a match and opens messaging.

Is there a minimum age?

Yes — the app is for adults only, and the age requirement is stated on the official store listing.
