Binding of Isaac sequel competes with Grand Theft Auto 6

The much-anticipated release of The Binding of Isaac: Repentance + Online for consoles is set for 19th November, coinciding with the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6. This package includes The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth and all subsequent add-ons, and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch 2, with a physical edition specifically for Switch 2.

The console release follows its debut on PC in 2024, where it featured beta online play options such as Friend Match and public matchmaking, accommodating up to four players in a single run. This new edition, titled Repentance + Online, includes all existing downloadable content: Afterbirth, Afterbirth+, Repentance, and Repentance+.

In a trend seen across the gaming industry, publishers have been steering clear of releasing new games on the same day as Grand Theft Auto 6. This led to a reorganisation of release schedules, with titles like Fable pushed to 2026 and others moved to September or October, causing further bottlenecks during that time. For example, Onimusha: Way of the Sword was shifted, leaving Phantom Blade Zero as the nearest significant release, though still three weeks prior to GTA 6. Unlike others, The Binding of Isaac seems unperturbed by the competition from Rockstar’s blockbuster title.
