Legendary game developer Hideo Kojima has reached a significant milestone, turning 63 years old. Despite his age, Kojima assures fans that retirement is not on his agenda just yet.
Kojima Reflects on His Career
Kojima, famed for directing titles like Death Stranding and Metal Gear Solid, took to X recently to share his reflections on a career spanning 40 years in the gaming industry. He emphasised that as he ages, the list of things he “must do” and “wants to do” continues to expand, while the “time available” diminishes. In a heartfelt message, he expressed the necessity to carefully assess how he utilises his time and lives his life.
Celebrations and Future Plans
This year not only marks Kojima’s four decades in game development but also celebrates a decade since he founded Kojima Productions. To commemorate these milestones, a ‘Kojipro Exhibition’ will be held at the Azabudai Hills Gallery from late October till the year’s end, showcasing an updated ’10th Anniversary Ludens’ statue.
Amidst numerous offers and opportunities, Kojima remains committed to investing his energy into creating more games. He extends gratitude to his audience, expressing hope for their ongoing support.
New Projects in the Works
While Kojima has toyed with the idea of exploring other creative fields such as filmmaking, his focus remains firmly on the gaming domain for now. Kojima Productions is currently developing multiple projects, including the innovative horror game OD, which has remained unaffected by recent cutbacks affecting Xbox, and a stealth action title, Physint, about which little has been revealed.
With such engaging projects in development, fans can rest assured that Kojima’s presence in the gaming industry will continue for the foreseeable future.
