android central to continue after staff layoffs

Android Central Continues Operations Amidst Staff Layoffs

Despite announcing the departure of its entire full-time staff, Android Central will continue to publish articles, according to its owner, Future. This commitment comes in the wake of the layoffs confirmed by various involved parties.

The reduction in force, which occurred yesterday, affected key staffers, including managing editor Derrek Lee, senior reporter Shruti Shekar, features editor Harish Jonnalagadda, and staff writer Nicholas Sutrich. Former senior editor Namerah Saud Fatmi also confirmed her departure through her LinkedIn profile update.

Although former staff members received no clear indication of the site’s future, content continues to roll out courtesy of freelance contributors. Future representative Nicole Martineau reaffirmed that Android Central will remain operational and that more details about its direction will be shared in due process, withholding further commentary at this moment.

Other Shifts in the Android Blogging Community

In a similar incident within the industry, Android Police, another website centring on Android news, has also experienced layoffs, letting go of at least two staff members. The site’s editorial lineup currently consists of four individuals. Valnet, the proprietor of Android Police and purchaser of former Polygon, has yet to issue a statement regarding these organisational changes.
