Recent estimates indicate that Booking Holdings might have surpassed Expedia in the B2B travel sector, traditionally considered Expedia’s stronghold. According to Wall Street insights, Booking Holdings’ B2B arm reportedly facilitated approximately 196 million room nights over the past year. This figure eclipses the roughly 170 million room nights associated with Expedia’s B2B endeavours, marking a 15% lead for Booking.
Analyst Jake Fuller of BTIG highlighted in a research note that while the perception has long been that Booking Holdings’ B2B operations are minor due to the lack of disclosed financial data, the reality might be quite different. Expedia’s quarterly reports reveal a 23% increase in B2B revenue, reaching $1.5 billion in the second quarter alone. In contrast, its consumer-oriented business saw an 8% rise, totalling $2.7 billion.
