Carhartt partners with NFL at Highmark Stadium construction

Carhartt Celebrates Construction Workers in New NFL-focused Campaign

In a fresh move aimed at tapping into the fervour of the NFL season, workwear stalwart Carhartt has launched its latest “Made Possible” campaign, emphasising the role of construction workers and tradespeople. Tied to the newly completed Highmark Stadium, the campaign spotlights those behind its creation, ahead of its formal opening for the 2026 NFL season as the new home of the Buffalo Bills.

Highlighting the Builders Behind Highmark Stadium

The campaign features a 30-second advertisement focusing on the construction workers who brought the stadium to life. Accompanying it is a two-minute segment starring Thurman Thomas, a former Bills player now leading his construction company, 34 Group, which contributed to the stadium by installing its seating. Thomas provides a tour of the site to current Bills running back James Cook III, reinforcing the connection between football and construction.

Authenticity at the Core of Carhartt’s Marketing

According to Norma Delaney, Carhartt’s vice president of marketing and creative, the campaign underscores the brand’s dedication to staying “authentically Carhartt,” with a focus on serving the needs of its hardworking clientele. Delaney believes that such an approach drives meaningful marketing initiatives by keeping conversations rooted in the work happening behind the scenes.

The initiative has resulted in a significant increase in engagement, with traffic to Carhartt’s “Join the Trades” landing page increasing fivefold compared to the same period last year. The campaign aims to elevate brand demand and awareness, employing social media snippets and a broad outreach strategy.

A Shared Appreciation of Craftsmanship

Carhartt’s unique relationship with the Bills and the NFL surfaced during the stadium’s construction phase, providing a “marketer’s dream” scenario for collaborations. Thomas’s familiarity with the brand and previous visits to Carhartt’s headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan, further cemented this partnership.

The ad, filmed during various construction stages over two years, even features a creative backward time-lapse of the stadium’s build. Carhartt celebrated the new stadium’s debut at the Bills’ preseason opener on August 15 with branded rally towels and in-stadium promotions, while also contributing $300,000 to support vocational training programmes in Western New York.

A Continuing Commitment to Tradespeople

Despite gaining wider popularity beyond construction circles, Carhartt remains committed to designing products that can withstand the demands of trade environments. Delaney affirmed that such a targeted approach is vital for crafting campaigns that resonate with a broader audience, without deviating from the company’s core purpose.

“Staying true to our identity as Carhartt is paramount,” Delaney remarked, stressing that while it could be tempting to chase trends, the brand’s focus firmly remains on its foundational values and serving the trade community.
