Fosun applies for ClubMed IPO in Hong Kong

ClubMed Lifestyle Group, known for its all-inclusive resorts, has embarked on a significant step by applying to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange for an initial public offering (IPO). The company, which is part of Fosun International’s holdings, aims to become a publicly traded entity while allowing Fosun, a major Chinese travel company, to retain a controlling interest.

IPO Details Under Wraps

The specifics of the IPO, including its valuation and timing, remain undisclosed in the publicly available documents. The financial institutions leading the process as joint sponsors are BNP Paribas, HSBC, and J.P. Morgan.

Financial Performance

Last year, ClubMed reported revenues of approximately $2.3 billion, marking an increase of 1.3% from the previous year. The company’s adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) stood at about $453 million. Despite a strategic shift towards ‘premiumization,’ the modest revenue growth indicates challenges in achieving significant pricing leverage.

Brand Independence

This IPO move allows ClubMed’s renowned brand to operate independently in the public market, offering it potential access to new capital which could fuel further growth and enhancement strategies.
