GTA 6 Leak Saga Continues: New Clip Emerges Despite Website Takedown
At 3.30pm, reports emerged that a new Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay clip has appeared online, indicating that the source of the leaks might still have access to unreleased content. This news comes despite one of the key platforms for the leaks, CyberLeek’s website, going offline.
Website Shutdown and Ongoing Legal Actions
Earlier today, at 12.30pm BST, it was reported that Take-Two Interactive’s legal actions have seemingly led to the shutdown of CyberLeek’s website, which had been central to the dissemination of GTA 6 leaks. Additionally, the group’s Telegram channel now only displays a notice citing copyright infringement.
These developments follow Take-Two’s recent legal manoeuvres, where subpoenas have been filed against Microsoft and Discord in an attempt to identify the individuals behind CyberLeek. Both companies have been given a deadline of 4th September to provide the requested account information.
Details of the Leaked Content
The leaks, which have been emerging steadily throughout the week, include detailed gameplay footage. In one such clip, a character named Jason is depicted driving through the fictional city of Vice City and engaging in actions like writing “leek” on a wall, which suggests there is some form of pre-release access to the game.
The Motives and Allegations Behind CyberLeek
CyberLeek claims that its actions are in support of gamers’ rights. However, there are suspicions about a cryptocurrency scheme involving the promotion of a $CYBERLEEK meme coin, which encourages purchases to fund an undisclosed project. Reports suggest this could result in personal financial gain under the guise of supporting video game leaks.
There is also some debate over the legitimacy of the now-defunct Telegram channel. Some user discussions on Reddit claim the channel may never have been operated by CyberLeek and could have been run by impersonators, while others assert it was an authentic outlet. Nevertheless, as of now, both the channel and the website are non-operational.
Impact on GTA 6 and Future Prospects
Whether the recent shutdown marks the cessation of leaks or merely a temporary hiatus remains uncertain. Take-Two’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, expressed confidence that despite the ongoing legal issues, the leaks are unlikely to affect the success of GTA 6. The game, anticipated for release on 19th November 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, has already performed exceptionally well in pre-orders on the PlayStation Store.
