Lego Cities Skylines to launch on PC and consoles

Paradox has officially announced a new addition to its Cities Skylines lineup, branded as Lego Skylines. This latest offering introduces a unique twist by incorporating iconic Lego elements into city-building gameplay and is set to launch on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo’s Switch 2.

Development of Lego Skylines is being undertaken by Iceflake Studios. This developer took over the Cities Skylines series following a series of challenges encountered by Colossal Order, the original developer, during the release of Cities Skylines 2. While Iceflake Studios has been addressing issues with Cities Skylines 2, it appears they have simultaneously been working on this new project.

Building a Lego Metropolis

The excitement surrounding Lego Skylines centres on the promise of starting with a basic plot and gradually expanding it into a thriving metropolis. According to Paradox, players have the opportunity to design a lively city guided by their own decisions. The game’s objective is to create an aesthetically pleasing yet efficient city, ensuring access to crucial resources such as electricity, food, and water. In addition, players must cater to the desires of their Legofolk with cosy homes, green spaces, and unique stores to improve city ratings and unlock new infrastructure.

A Focus on Customisation

A significant aspect of Lego Skylines lies in its increased emphasis on customisation compared to its predecessors. While details on the mechanics remain limited, Paradox has indicated that there will be more options for customisable plots and buildings, along with a diverse array of decorations. Whether aiming to cultivate a cultural hub with prominent museums and sports arenas or line the streets with delightful bakeries offering farm-fresh donuts, the choices seem plentiful.

Although details about a release date remain undisclosed, anticipation is building around Lego Skylines following its initial leak earlier this year. More information is expected in the near future as this innovative city-builder begins to take shape.
