LinkedIn’s AI Detection Enhancements Gain User Attention
LinkedIn’s initiative to handle artificially generated content is making waves, as over one million users have utilised its “Seems like AI slop” button. This feature, introduced on 30th July, is accessible from the menu in each post, offering users a way to flag content suspected of being AI-generated.
New Features Address AI Content
The introduction of the “AI slop” button coincided with the rollout of updated classifiers aimed at spotting AI-generated posts. The decision followed a report by Pangram and 404 Media indicating that 41 percent of lengthy posts on LinkedIn were entirely AI-created. In response, the platform also removed a feature intended to enrich posts using AI.
Impact of the AI Button
According to LinkedIn’s chief product officer, Hari Srinivasan, the platform’s efforts are showing results. In a recent update, Srinivasan mentioned a significant decrease (40%) in views for content deemed AI slop, reflecting the community’s active participation in identifying such posts.
User Feedback and Transparency
LinkedIn is enhancing transparency by notifying authors when their posts receive AI-related feedback. The platform assures members that their approach presumes good intentions, with an emphasis on providing constructive feedback. Srinivasan noted his personal effort to avoid sounding like AI, reinforcing the message of sincere engagement.
Commitment to Authentic Content
Earlier in the year, LinkedIn announced measures to curb the generation of bulk comments that lack genuine human input. This aligns with its ongoing commitment to maintaining a platform rich in authentic interactions and user-generated content.
