Muse AI Set to Enhance Meta Smart Glasses
Meta has revealed plans to integrate its AI agent, Muse, into its line of smart glasses, introducing a host of updates encompassing accessibility, camera functionalities, and navigation. These enhancements were recently announced following the unveiling of new smart glasses at Meta Connect.
By simply saying “Muse,” users will soon be able to interact with the AI through their smart glasses, facilitating tasks such as offering workout guidance, logging meals, or aiding in shopping for viewed items. This is a part of several updates aimed at enriching user experience with Meta’s glasses.
Advanced Features for Better Accessibility
A prominent addition is the Hearing Enhancement, a feature designed to assist adults with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss. Cleared by the FDA, it will be accessible later this year for users with a Meta One subscription or as a $149 add-on compatible with certain glasses. This feature will enable the glasses to provide “context-rich answers” to visual queries, which could prove beneficial for blind and low-vision users. Additionally, an audio customization option will allow wearers to direct sound output to either ear or both.
Cutting-edge Audio and Photography Capabilities
Meta is also rolling out features such as Dolby Atmos Capture for recording videos with immersive 360-degree sound. Furthermore, the Dynamic Photo function captures multiple frames per photograph, employing Meta AI to recommend the most optimal frame from each series.
Innovative Functions in Meta Ray-Ban Display
The Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses are slated to receive the “Hologram” feature, offering a lifelike digital representation of the user’s face for calls, which interprets expressions using voice cues. Initially available on WhatsApp for US users, this feature will be introduced later in the fall. Upcoming navigation capabilities will allow voice-activated real-time cycling or transit directions and new turn-by-turn walking guidance centered around real-world landmarks instead of street signs.
Additional improvements for the Display glasses include photo editing directly on the display, a new “Explore” application to find additional apps, a more efficient calendar, and the mirroring of phone notifications. These updates are expected to significantly enhance the functionality and appeal of Meta’s smart glasses lineup.
