Footage suggesting development progress on EA Motive’s long-awaited Iron Man game has surfaced online, providing a glimpse into the much-anticipated title.
The leaked video showcases two-and-a-half minutes of gameplay, featuring Iron Man navigating what appears to be an expansive open-world city and large battlefields with remarkable agility and velocity. The transitions between flying, ground combat, and aerial battles occur seamlessly, emphasising the game’s dynamic action sequences.
Combat in the game demonstrates a compelling combination of speed and power. Iron Man can hurl adversaries into the air or slam them into structural surfaces with powerful effects. His weaponry is diverse, equipped with laser beams, including the iconic chest beam, as well as rockets and numerous other destructive gadgets.
Suits and Storytelling
The game seems to offer suit customisation options for Iron Man. In the footage, Tony Stark—bearing some resemblance to, but not a direct likeness of, Robert Downey Junior—is seen in a space filled with various Iron Man suits. He interacts with a panel, modifying one suit, which then configures itself around him.
Despite the trailer being a work-in-progress with areas marked as incomplete, it highlights cinematic storytelling elements. Stark visits iconic locations such as the massive S.H.I.E.L.D helicarrier and engages with various characters, enhancing the narrative depth. Additionally, a scene set in a bamboo forest adds to the diversity of environments.
Development and Future Prospects
The leaked content is labeled “Aug26 test,” indicating that it is relatively recent. However, a specific release date remains undisclosed, with only a vague “Release Window” phrase at the trailer’s conclusion. Interestingly, placeholders like “Ultron” for executive producer and “The Hulk” for world director add a playful touch to the credits.
Initially announced four years ago as part of EA’s collaboration with Marvel for several superhero games, EA Motive’s Iron Man project is one of the few progressing after a Black Panther game was reportedly shelved. Previously, in 2012, Avalanche—known for the Just Cause series—was reported to be working on an Iron Man game, footage of which recently re-emerged.
Iron Man also appeared in Square Enix’s 2020 Avengers game, which did not receive the same acclaim as their subsequent Guardians of the Galaxy release. EA has not yet responded to requests for comment on the current leak.
