Rabbit Unveils Hardware-Free AI Agent Accessible Across Platforms
Rabbit, a technology startup previously known for its R1 device, has introduced a new AI agent capable of functioning independently of its hardware. Dubbed the OS3 “agentic operating system,” this AI system operates via the cloud and is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms.
Versatile System With Broad Device Support
The OS3 system allows users to integrate up to five devices under one account, along with preferred AI models. It utilises inherent intelligence to identify the necessary devices, files, apps, and AI models required for task execution. Users can access OS3 through a dedicated desktop site, or through messaging applications such as Telegram or iMessage, in addition to the now-defunct R1 device.
Pivot to Innovative Hardware
Despite the cessation of production for the R1 devices, Rabbit’s founder Jesse Lyu indicates a continuing interest in AI hardware, albeit with a shift in focus. The company is developing a new vibe-coding “cyberdeck” that is expected to support OS3 upon its release in the upcoming months.
Commitment to Data Privacy
Rabbit has assured users that its OS3 system is designed with privacy in mind, promising not to store, copy, use, or sell user data, while still retaining chat histories and derived memories on its servers. Any data handled by partner AI providers linked to OS3 will be subjected to the respective provider’s privacy protocols.
