Sony seems to be trialling a new rewards system for PlayStation, as evidenced by recent online discussions highlighting special wallet credit deals on certain PlayStation Store purchases.
Users Spot Bonus Credit Offers
Reports from social media and forums like Reddit reveal that select game purchases now include wallet credit bonuses. A Reddit user, JannJans, displayed images showing these bonuses for the game The Blood of Dawnwalker on the US PlayStation Store. Both the Standard and Eclipse editions of the game had offers marked with a wallet credit note, ending on 29th September.
The user remarked that they discovered this promotional offer while choosing between Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Blood of Dawnwalker, and subsequently received $10 in store credit after purchasing the latter. Additionally, similar wallet credit messages have been reported by users in different regions.
Multiple Games Highlighted
The promotions are not exclusive to The Blood of Dawnwalker. Other users reported seeing the credit bonus linked to titles like Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, Star Wars Zero Company, and Halloween: The Game—all relatively new releases.
Potential Programme Insights
There’s speculation that these bonuses might be a component of a more extensive rewards programme. In February, a PlayStation Store app called Wallet Credits was identified, suggesting a possible connection to this initiative. While this approach isn’t novel, as evidenced by similar offers from Microsoft for Xbox Store users, it’s unclear what criteria govern its distribution.
The select availability of these offers might indicate connections to PlayStation’s dynamic pricing strategies, designed to tailor game pricing based on purchase likelihood. Alternatively, this could be an early phase of a broader loyalty scheme Sony plans to roll out, potentially rewarding players at certain tiers.
