Valve’s Deadlock becomes popular on Steam before release

Valve’s upcoming MOBA game, Deadlock, has recently achieved a significant milestone, becoming one of the most popular games on Steam thanks to its latest update. While the game is not yet fully available to the general public or given a release date, its recent enhancements have attracted considerable attention.

Update Sparks Surge in Popularity

On the previous day, Valve launched the comprehensive City Never Sleeps update for Deadlock. This substantial update revamped the game with a reimagined map, six new playable heroes, an extensive array of voice lines, and numerous user interface and quality-of-life improvements. As a result, Deadlock has reached an impressive 228,086 concurrent players, according to statistics from SteamDB, marking a peak in its player base history.

Engaging Content and Dynamic Changes

The update introduced a significant increase in character voice lines, more than doubling the dialogue options, which has resonated well with the Deadlock community. Players are actively sharing their favourite moments and interactions on the Deadlock Reddit page, showcasing their appreciation for the additional personality traits reflected in the game’s unique characters.

A New York Twist

The updated map, The Cursed Apple, inspired by New York, now features distinctly themed regions. The revamped lanes include Broadway for the central blue lane, Greenwich for the green lane, and York for the yellow lane, with various smaller districts such as the Theatre, Chinatown, the Haunted Lot, and the Plaza in between. Each area boasts unique Haunts, or PvE opponents, enhancing the immersive experience.

As Deadlock continues to gain traction, its potential for success upon full release seems promising. For avid gamers eager to experience Deadlock, the game can currently be accessed via invite codes from existing players with access.
