Walmart has introduced fresh in-store incentives for its Walmart+ subscription members, enhancing the programme’s appeal with complimentary services in its photo and money centres.
New Offers for Walmart+ Members
Subscribers to the Walmart+ membership can now take advantage of 25 free 4×6 photo prints each month at Walmart’s in-store photo centres, up to an annual limit of 300 prints. The nationwide retail giant also unveiled a suite of fee-free money services available quarterly at its store Money Centres. This new offering includes check cashing, money orders, money transfers, bill payments, and eCash loading.
Boost in Membership and Spending
During an earnings call in May, CFO John David Rainey highlighted a growth in revenue from the Walmart+ membership fees in the United States during the first quarter. He noted that Walmart+ members tend to spend significantly more than non-members, with their overall spending being four times higher and enjoying sevenfold more e-commerce visits annually. Furthermore, given the current high petrol prices, members find their fuel savings benefits increasingly valuable, underscoring the extended value of the membership beyond merely free shipping.
Enhanced In-Store Convenience
According to Deepak Maini, Walmart’s Senior Vice President and General Manager of Walmart+ Membership, the introduction of these new perks aims to enhance the convenience of customers’ in-store shopping experience, as expressed in a LinkedIn post last week. Walmart launched the Walmart+ membership programme in 2020, initially highlighting its unlimited delivery service offering.
