World of Warcraft Classic+ confirmed as World of Warcraft Forever

The highly anticipated World of Warcraft: Forever has been unveiled by Blizzard as a new addition to the World of Warcraft franchise. Known informally as “Classic+”, the release ends speculation about a mysterious “wow 2” tag seen by dataminers.

Beta Access and Global Launch

World of Warcraft: Forever will officially launch worldwide on 4th November, following an announcement at BlizzCon’s opening ceremony. For eager fans, beta access becomes available as soon as this Thursday, 17th September, specifically for those who have pre-purchased one of the game’s upgrade packs.

Game Details and Design Insights

A panel at BlizzCon, featuring senior game director Ion Hazzikostas among other key members of the development team, provided further insight into the new regions and game mechanics of WoW: Forever. Positioned between key points in WoW lore, the game invites players to explore the original continents with a level cap of 60. It introduces three new zones, over 1,000 quests, nine new dungeons, and two new raids designed for both 10 and 20-player groups. Additionally, players can anticipate a new playable race, the Skyborne.

Subscription and Upgrade Options

In a move appreciated by the loyal community, no additional purchase is necessary to access WoW: Forever, which is covered by an existing WoW subscription. However, there are optional upgrade packs for purchase. The Skyborne Heroic Pack offers early access to the Skyborne race and a starting zone, while the Skyborne Epic Pack includes beta access, a month of Game Time, and extra cosmetics.
