Google Gemini introduces dedicated student hub

As students prepare for the new academic year, Google is launching a specialised student hub within Gemini. This innovative addition serves as a comprehensive platform to assist students in organising their study materials. It offers functionalities such as research collection in a study notebook, flashcard creation, and practice quizzes. Enhanced study notebooks now include support for graphs and images, alongside the capability to integrate test dates and deadlines into Google Calendar from students’ syllabi.

Advanced Research Capabilities

In a bid to further augment its resources, Google is introducing Deep Research within Gemini Live. This feature allows students to request complex research reports and provides audio explanations of the results. Importantly, users can await the completion of reports without keeping the app open, as notifications will be sent once the task is completed. Moreover, a forthcoming update in the Google mobile app will enable the Google Lens feature to analyse photos of study materials, offering explanations, concept aids, and even error correction guidance.

Exclusive Benefits for Students

Eligible US students are offered a complimentary year of Google AI Pro, which includes significant perks such as 5TB of storage, Google Health Premium access, increased usage limits on Gemini, and cross-app integration for Gemini features. Conversely, students outside the US can access the Google AI Plus subscription, offering 400GB of storage and comparatively reduced Gemini usage.
