The UK-based budget hotel chain Travelodge has announced the resignation of its CEO, Jo Boydell. This decision comes in the wake of mounting pressure due to the company’s inadequate response to a high-profile sexual assault case that highlighted significant security lapses.
Ray Reidy, who serves as the Chief Financial Officer, will assume the role of interim CEO while the board searches for a permanent replacement. In a statement released with the company’s first-half results, Reidy emphasised the ongoing commitment to guest safety and business strengthening measures. “We remain focused on the safety and well-being of our guests and will continue taking the actions necessary to strengthen the business,” he stated. He also mentioned that Travelodge will maintain proactive and constructive engagement with relevant parties.
An independent review into the issues and a series of discussions on industry-wide safety standards are ongoing, underlining the importance of this matter for the hospitality sector.
