A new gameplay trailer for “Silent Hill: Townfall” reveals over 18 minutes of footage and confirms the duration of its PlayStation 5 exclusivity period.
The newly released trailer centers on Simon Ordell, the main character, as he navigates the eerie, fog-laden Shorefront area on the fictional Scottish island of St. Amelia. Players will witness Simon exploring homes and apartments, collecting items, and facing the sinister threats that lurk in the mist.
While the trailer does not disclose significant plot details, it may not be suitable for those who prefer complete surprises. However, it contains vital information about the game’s platform availability. Specifically, the text at the end clarified that while “Townfall” will initially be a PS5 console exclusive, it will also be available for PC. The game is not expected to release on other consoles, such as Xbox Series X/S or Nintendo Switch 2, until at least six months after its launch, suggesting a potential release window starting in March 2027.
Developed by Screen Burn Interactive, formerly known as No Code, and published by Konami and Annapurna Interactive, “Townfall” stands out as the first primary “Silent Hill” installment to offer a first-person perspective. The game is scheduled for release on 24th September for both PC and PS5.
The “Silent Hill” franchise experienced a significant resurgence in 2022. Konami surprised fans with announcements of “Silent Hill 2 Remake,” “Silent Hill f,” “Silent Hill: Townfall,” “Silent Hill Ascension,” and the film “Return to Silent Hill,” followed by the unexpected launch of “Silent Hill Short Message.” Motoi Okamoto, series producer, acknowledged that the revival hinges on maintaining a “strong psychological horror narrative.”
“As long as that remains intact, we feel that we can be more liberal and experimental with what kind of gameplay we take,” Okamoto explained. This philosophy is evident in how different the gameplay is across “Silent Hill 2,” the previous year’s “Silent Hill F,” and “Silent Hill: Townfall.” The focus on narrative allows for a variety of gameplay styles while preserving the franchise’s essence.
