Rebel Wolves, the developer behind “The Blood of Dawnwalker,” has announced that a 60fps Performance Mode will be available for the game’s console versions through a day one patch. This revelation comes after the company initially faced criticism for not including a 60fps mode in its prior console gameplay demonstration.
Console Gameplay Options Detailed
The game, which is scheduled for release on 3rd September on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, was initially showcased with two different modes on the next-gen consoles. A Quality Mode was shown running at 30fps with dynamic 4K resolution, and a Balanced Mode running at 40fps, also targeting dynamic 4K resolution. This demonstration, presented through a now-removed gameplay trailer, noted differing capabilities across consoles.
In the absence of a 60fps mode in their initial reveal, many players expressed dissatisfaction. Addressing these concerns, Rebel Wolves confirmed that the 60fps Performance Mode was already being developed but delayed mentioning it publicly until its capabilities could be confirmed. As stated by the developers, this mode is designed for PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X. While the PS5 Pro will offer enhanced visuals, the Xbox Series S will be limited to a maximum of 30fps.
Developer’s Response to Feedback
Rebel Wolves communicated through X (formerly Twitter), explaining that although Performance Mode development was underway, it required more rigorous testing before making definitive promises. “On Friday, we answered your questions about console performance with what we knew we could confidently deliver at launch,” the developer said. “We heard your feedback. It was clear how much this mattered to many of you, so we focused on finishing the next round of tests. Those results gave us the confidence we needed to confirm Performance Mode for Day one.”
Upcoming Release and Gameplay Impressions
“The Blood of Dawnwalker” is an action role-playing game set to immerse players in a vampire-themed narrative. Eurogamer’s Robert Purchese had a preview of the game and noted favourably on how its 30-day in-game time limit integrates into both the storyline and gameplay mechanics, creating a unique experience.
